Aaron and I had an uneventful Thursday morning which was fine. We cuddled and watched some cartoons. Then he practiced some walking. A friend brought over lunch for me - that was so good!
Aaron and I got ready to go pick Ethan up for his doctor's appointment down at Children's in Waltham. Aaron was excited to go into school and see some of the teachers and staff there. They were all happy to see him and were happy that he was coming back tomorrow for a visit. Ethan enjoyed pushing Aaron back to the van, and we headed to the appointment after picking up Nana. It is getting easier to take Aaron out and about.
Ethan's appointment went well. He has gained 6 lbs and a couple of inches since May. His medicine seems to be doing well too. Ethan has Familial Mediterranean Fever syndrome - he sees a rheumatologist every so often. He takes a medication called colchicine to help control the fever and other symptoms. Aaron and Nana stayed in the waiting room and watched a movie. We were in and out of there in less than an hour. That was very unexpected and very much appreciated! The Waltham facility is very nice - we had never been to that location.
We all headed back up to North Andover and ate at Nana and Papa's. Ethan was able to get some homework done, and Aaron watched another movie! He also received some pants that were specially tailored for him. It fits over his fixator very nicely. And, we was happy to have it before his visit to school tomorrow.
We got back home and Aaron was pretty unhappy. Jonathan and I still needed to give him a shower, clean his pins, and turn the screws for his lengthening. He was very frustrated, and he said that he wanted to be someone else. Poor little guy. It's hard to hear him say that, to hear him crying, and to know that he is in pain. Also, most of the time Jon and I cannot do anything to make him feel better (other than give him medication and hugs and prayers). Also, a lot of times we actually have to cause him pain. Ethan did a very good job of encouraging him tonight. He is such a good big brother. Overall, however, Aaron is handling everything very well.
We are continually in awe of what we have received from friends and family and those we don't know so well. Aaron received some cards today and was encouraged by them. He is really looking forward to visiting his friends at school and seeing his teacher, Mrs. Iannuzzi. Please continue to keep us in your prayers - especially those for encouragement and joy for Aaron.

Hi Aaron,
Hang in there, buddy! You're doing such an awesome job healing and growing. We all love you so much and hate to see you in pain and having to work so hard, but we know you're going to be able to do all kinds of things with those great, one-of-a-kind SuperLegs one day!
Get lots of sleep. Can't wait to see you soon!
Love, your friend, Leah
