I cannot believe how well today went. Ethan got on the bus at 8 am, and Aaron woke up at 8:05. It was nice to have some time alone with Ethan this morning, and then I was able to turn my attention to Aaron.
Aaron wanted to play a video game, so I made him do some walking and stair climbing to earn it. He did very well! Today I have only had to give him one dose of his pain medication, and he probably didn't even need that one. We played a game after, and it was nice to see he had enough attention span to get through it!
My friend Debbie came with her dog Stanley (see picture below). Aaron really enjoyed the time spent with Stanley. They cuddled under Aaron's blanket. Debbie came with donuts for Aaron and Ethan and a coffee for me! What a great visit.
Then, Uncle Ryan surprised us with a visit and even brought a Happy Meal for Aaron (see picture below). Ryan and Aaron watched some Tom and Jerry cartoons (I was thankful I didn't have to watch it - it's more of a "guy thing"). Nana came by with some clothes that she washed and dried for us. Our dryer is still broken, but we are getting a new one on Saturday. And my friend, Elizabeth, came with a free wheelchair that she acquired from the Masons. What a great gift! It is a little higher then the one we have from the hospital; therefore, Aaron can join us at the dinner table now.
After our guests left, we went for an outing at the church. Aaron enjoyed operating the lift at church to go to the 2nd floor where the library is located (there is a picture of that too). He picked out some movies, and we went home. He wheeled himself around the entire time. Once home, the PT was there to do some more work with Aaron. He wasn't happy about it, but eventually did the work. She adjusted the new wheelchair so that it would fit Aaron.
Ethan came home soon after, and we all did homework. Aaron got through several pages, and he enjoyed getting to do some schoolwork. Ethan read him a story too (cute picture of this). We are enjoying a quiet early evening and will be enjoying another meal lovingly provided to us.
Thank you all for your prayers, meals, visits, donuts, doggies, Happy Meals, etc. We are truly blessed beyond measure. Tomorrow Ethan has an appointment down at Children's in Waltham. That is our big outing for tomorrow. Aaron should be able to practice lots of wheelchair moves down there.
