Yesterday was a pretty good day. Nana came over in the morning so that I could lead bible study. It was nice for me to get out of the house and see my friends. When I got back, we had planned to give Aaron a shower and clean his pins, but the visiting nurse came by to check on him. He has a slight fever still, but I guess that can happen for a while after surgery.
Aaron also walked a bit, and did a great job. He still HATES to walk. I talked to the PT on the phone, and she suggested that I really try to have him sit with his leg down instead of elevated all the time. She mentioned that he probably doesn't like the sensation of the blood going to his feet. Good point! And, his swelling in his leg has really gone down mostly. So, we will be working on that too.
Our next item on the day's agenda was to go for a trip to the library. I figured Aaron could pick out some books, see some other kids, and maybe do some school work at one of the kid-sized tables. Alas, it was not meant to be. The library isn't too far from my home. 30 seconds into the ride, Aaron was fast asleep. And, I mean really asleep - snoring and everything. Nana and I figured that taking him out of the van into the cool air would wake him up. But, it did not. Nana and I had fun picking out books, and I saw a couple of friends in the library. I have a picture below of our outing to the library - he is very cute sleeping. We went home, and Aaron slept for another 2 hours.
Ethan came home, and it was nice to have some time alone with him before Aaron woke up. He had gone to Kearsarge for a field trip. Also, my dad (Grandpa) stopped by because he had a meeting in Concord, NH. Aaron slept right through that visit too!
I finally woke Aaron up because I feared he would never sleep that night (and he didn't fall asleep until midnight!). Mary, Harry, and Christy came to visit him. Mary and Harry made some nice cards for Aaron, and Mary played a card game with Aaron too. He perked up when he saw his friends.
Jonathan came home from work - always a big occasion in the Coppeta house. We ate and then the boys played a video game. Jonathan has taken over the pin cleaning and turning of the screws responsibilities. He does very well at it, and I am fine with handing off that responsibility. I have the difficult job of holding the flashlight.
Nana and Jonathan both mentioned that Aaron seemed like himself today. So, day by day he is getting there. Thanks for your continued prayers. On Wednesday, we will be going on another outing and having some visitors too!
