School is Fun

We have been very busy the past few days, and I have not had the chance to post a message. I guess that is good news in the long run. Aaron is doing very well. He was having some problems sleeping because he had so much itching on his leg. However, a few people suggested that he take benadryl at night. I gave him some last night, and he (and Jon and I) slept much better.

On Monday, Aaron went to school for 2 hours in the morning. He participated in morning meeting and the writer's workshop. Then he went out for recess. He was a bit nervous about going out for recess because he knew that he would not be able to run and play on the playground. He was also unsure if anyone would want to play with him. Well, I think that Aaron found that he had plenty of kids to play with. A lot of kids were ready to play catch; they are being so kind and thoughtful, and I really appreciate that. He played with Cole and Julia all through recess. After recess, Aaron went to lunch with the rest of the kids. That was fun for me too to see all the kids and to eat in the gym transformed into a cafeteria. Brings back memories . . . . We even got to see Ethan! After lunch, Aaron was pretty tired, so we rested in the nurses office. Betty has been so great and welcoming to us - the nurses' office is like our second home in the school. After a little bit of a rest, we decided it was time to go home. Enough for one day.

On Tuesday, Aaron accompanied me to bible study. He wasn't too thrilled to be with a bunch of ladies, but he hung in there. He was able to see how many people were praying for him. Also, Mrs. Johnson made him a special cover for his fixator leg (see picture beow). Right after we went to school for the afternoon. This day, he lasted 3 hours! He participated in art (and it was so nice for me to see what they do) and caught up with all of his projects. In the classroom he worked on some books and other activities. I was able to step out of the classroom and make some copies and accomplish some other administrative things. That was fun for me, and I was able to see that Aaron is fine in the classroom. Mrs. Peterson will be helping him when he is in school for more hours. Aaron really likes her, and they will work together well! I find that I really enjoy being in the classroom, working with the kids, and doing other things in the school. Aaron was getting tired at the end, but he hung in there until the end of the day. I can really tell how much he enjoys school and how it brightens him right up seeing the other kids and his teachers.

Today (Wednesday) we are home waiting for our new dryer to be delivered. I am very much looking forward to doing some laundry. I have been able to outsource the drying to good friends and family! Thanks for all your help. Aaron worked hard this morning walking and doing 4 pages of his schoolwork. I have figured out that he needs to do his walking and schoolwork before he starts to watch TV. After he completes 2 pages, he can then watch a 1/2 hour show. After the dryer is delivered, I will take Aaron to school for the afternoon.

The dryer is here!!! Yeah!!! I will write more later. Have a good day.

Wow! What a cool cover for your fixator, that will keep you nice and warm! Sounds like you are having a great time being back at school and you are getting stronger every day! Hopefully we can see you this weekend.
Love,
