It's Been A While

Well, it has been a bit of time since I last posted. Time is flying furiously, and things are going very well.
Aaron is doing awesome at school. Here is a picture of him walking in the gym. He is walking in the hallways with his little walker. He is also sitting down on the floor to play or to join in circle time. In addition, he spends some of his school day sitting at a regular chair. He still needs to use his wheelchair because he gets tired and to get to and fro a bit faster. I also am dropping him off at the beginning of the day and picking him up at the end of the school day. It is rare that I need to pick him up early (unless it is for an appointment).

Aaron is also busy with PT (physical therapy) twice a week. Chris is his PT, and he challenges him while making it fun. One day he did about 120 squats! Now I can't even do that without a fixator on my leg! I pick him up from school a little early on PT days because I found if we wait too long, he is too tired.
Because of the lengthening, his tendons and muscles are getting a bit tight. He needs a brace to help straighten his knee (thereby stretching his muscles and tendons) and also for extra support. It took a bit of time to figure out how to design this new addition. Nick, Aaron's prosthetist/orthotist designed him a cool brace. He gets to wear it when he is playing a video game. When distracted, he can handle a little bit more stretching (aka, pain). Here is a picture of Nick!
Aaron's pins look really good, and he has not had a pin infection. This is really a wonderful blessing. When we were initially told all the information about the surgery, Dr. Snyder nearly assured us Aaron would have a pin infection. So, 2 months into this, we are hoping to avoid that.

And, you are NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS, but it looks like Aaron only has 3 more days until his lengthening is complete! That is totally amazing, and a really good milestone. We will be celebrating this one. Aaron has an appointment with Dr. Snyder on Wednesday before Thanksgiving. At this time, Aaron will have an X-ray and we will see if any more lengthening or tweaking might need to be done.

Here are some funny pictures of Aaron and me at one of the appointments. They are long sometimes, so we do anything we can to amuse ourselves! More to come.
