We had a busy day on Friday. Aaron had PT first thing in the morning - Aaron wasn't too happy about that. He walked without his walker and did some work on the stairs. Ethan had a 1/2 day and Aaron had an appointment down in Concord, MA with his orthotist, Nick. Aaron fell asleep 20 minutes before we got to the appointment. Nick fashioned Aaron a rocker foot to place on his leg with the fixator. He also added a thigh cuff with supports for his knee - all while Aaron slept! It adds some weight to his leg, but it will help him walk better and provide his knee with stability.
The Brown family met us down there. Gwen gave us her leftover supplies that she used with her daughter, Zoe, when she had the fixator on her leg. We were going to go over some of the finer points of pin cleaning, but Aaron was asleep and had been quite grumpy! So, we enjoyed chatting, and it made the appointment go by more quickly. I am very thankful for the Brown family's knowledge and encouragement!
It was a long afternoon and we hit traffic on the way home. Nana came with us, thankfully, and she provided valuable co-pilot aid. Aaron's foot itched most of the way home, and Nana was there to help him out.
We were able to eat another meal prepared for us. Thank you so much. Jonathan turned the screws on his
Today was an even better day. Ethan was able to go to gymnastics again - which he really loves! Jon and I gave Aaron his first shower since the surgery. We were able to borrow a shower chair from an equipment loaner closet. After we did the pin cleaning, and it was so much easier after Aaron's shower! Aaron also did a lot of walking today, and he went up and down the stairs while we supported his leg. He really made some good improvements today.
Then, we all went to my nephew Mikey's birthday party. We were not sure if it would be too much for Aaron, but he really wanted to go. He got tired, but he really enjoyed going to the party, being out of the house, and seeing his cousins. Aaron, an animal lover, also got to see their new puppy, Boscoe. I think that cheered him up too.
Jonathan turned the screws again for his lengthening. Aaron moves around so much during the night and during the day that the pins are inadvertently turning! We have to figure out how to stop this from happening so that it doesn't negatively affect the lengthening. We are finding that there is a lot of jerry-rigging that needs to be done to get through this process. Being a by-the-book, follow-the-directions gal, this is a bit tough for me!
Tomorrow, Aunt Kendra and Uncle Ryan will be coming by for a visit, and we are hoping to get a pumpkin! So, we will be trying for another outing.
Thank you all for your continued encouragement, concern, and prayers. Please continue to pray for his healing, the success of his lengthening, and his general positive outlook! Thanks!

gHey guys. We are so excited that Aaron is doing so well. Praise God for His grace and mercy. Please tell Aaron that Ben, Sam, Lydia and I are praying for him. Are you free for a visit or to meet up at Johnson's Farm on Monday late afternoon?
I'm so impressed by your bravery, honesty, and endurance. I love keeping up with Aaron's progress on your blog - and seeing photos of the boys. They've grown so much, even since I last saw them in August. We are inspired by you, we miss you, and we're praying for you. xoxoxo
Lori - Sorry I got your message late! I would be up for a visit later in the week!
